Vande Bharat Express completes trial run from New Delhi to Katra
The Northern Railway zone of Indian Railway successfully conducted trial run of Vande Bharat Express, known to be India’s fastest train. The trial run was conducted from New Delhi to Katra small town in Jammu and Kashmir.
About Vande Bharat Express
It is also known as Train 18. It can run at a speed of 160 km per hour.
Besides being indigenous and fully automatic train, it is also one of the best and premium trains in India.
Developed by: It is designed and developed by Chennai-based Railways Production unit Integral Coach Factory in a time of just 18 months which also included in-house design, manufacture, computer modelling and working.
Features:
It has a GPS-based audio-visual passenger information system, pantry, on board hotspot Wi-Fi facility for entertainment purposes, and bio-vacuum toilets.
It has also been equipped with improved seating, a facility for freezer, hot case and other technical improvements based on passenger feedback.
2nd Vande Bharat Express is proposed to run three days a week i.e. on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
Trial Run:
In February 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off train’s maiden run from New Delhi to Varanasi. Later in early July 2019 Vande Bharat’s 2nd trial run was successfully completed conducted between New Delhi Railway Station and Kanpur Central Railway station.
As per the trial run results Train 18 is better than Shatabdi Express as it has travel classes like Shatabdi trains, but with better facilities in a bid to provide a new travel experience to passengers.
After successful Confirmatory Oscillograph Car Runs (COCR) trial of new Vande Bharat Express on Delhi-Katra route, it is expected that train might soon extend its service to Vaishno Devi.
