Use of radio for education in times of pandemic
The lockdown to curb the pandemic is threatening the education of many children across the world. In this context, governments are looking at radio as a medium for educating the children from the lower income families.
Madhya Pradesh’s Radio School
The Madhya Pradesh government is to launch a unique radio school. All the channels of AIR in the state will broadcast educational content between 11 AM and 12 PM from Monday to Saturday. It is being implemented by the State Education Centre with the help of All India Radio.
Guwahati Radio Classes
The Assam government is to start a radio class for the students from April 6th onwards. This is a joint initiative of the State Council of Educational Research and Training and the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan. It will broadcast topics in Assamese, English, social science and general science for students of classes I to VIII via AIR Guwahati. It will also broadcast a fact check program called Pratirodh every day.
All India Radio
All India Radio or Akashvani is the national radio broadcaster of India. It is the largest radio network in the world. It covers nearly 92% of the country and over 99% of the population. It is also one of the largest broadcasting organisation in terms of the number of languages broadcasted.
