Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Chips
The adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) chips has risen with many companies launching their AI chips in recent times.
Which companies recently launched AI chips?
Nvidia launched its H100 GPU (graphics processing unit), which is one of the world’s most powerful AI accelerators. Intel also launched AI chips to provide users with deep learning computing choices for training in data centers. IBM Corporation, Advanced Micro Devices, Alphabet Inc., Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and Apple Inc. are other key players in the Global AI chip market.
What are AI chips?
AI chips are those that have integrated AI acceleration to support deep learning-based applications. With the help of these chips, data can be turned into information and knowledge. Various types of AI chips include application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), central processing units (CPUs) and GPUs, etc.
AI chips will be useful for various AI applications such as natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, robotics, and network security. The use of AI chips for NLP applications has risen due to the increase in demand for chatbots and online channels such as Messenger, which use NLP to analyze user messages.
What is Deep learning?
Deep learning or deep neural network (DNN) is a subset of machine learning and comes under the umbrella of AI. During the training phase, DNNs learn new capabilities from existing available data. By applying these capabilities, DNNs can make predictions against new data.
What is the value of the AI Chip industry?
In 2020, the Global AI chip industry accounted for USD 8.02 billion and is expected to reach USD 194.9 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 37.4% from 2021 to 2030.
