What do you understand by the term restorative justice?

Restorative justice stands for a type of criminal justice where the primary focus of the judicial process is to repair the damage caused by criminal to the victim. This form of justice thus has a completely different view from the prevalent criminal system of justice which is mostly directed towards retribution against the criminal. Restorative justice thus seeks to appropriately compensate the victim by involving him or her in the judicial process. Restorative justice views the crime as an issue between the criminal and the victim and not exactly an act which was conducted against the law.
