What are the UNDP indicators with reference to the planning process?
The United Nations Development Programme presented its 12th Annual Report in New Delhi in July, 2001. This report was based on making new techniques for development. The Human Development Report includes total 162 countries of which India is numbered behind at the 115th. Based on some specific indicators, this report is prepared from the figures derived from government offices and census of the countries apart from surveys.
This report indicators in relation to planning process are:
- Life expectancy at birth
- Education
- Purchasing power of basic goods and services,
- From this year, the report included the fourth indicator, that is, technological achievement index.
This Technological Achievement Index (TAI) includes 72 countries and India could not get an impressive place in it because of being at 63 rd position.
