What are the issues surrounding the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme?

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme has allocated Rs. 6000 crores for nearly 12 crore farmer families who owns nearly two hectares of land. The total number of land holdings is defined by the last agricultural census but the guidelines state that one family can hold more than one land parcels which will be brought together for determination of the eligibility of the benefit. Also, if the size of the holding is more than 2 hectares but is owned by multiple families, it will still make them eligible for the scheme. Thus, these contradictions will likely make it difficult to make use of the existing records for the determination of the beneficiaries. Another roadblock is the status of the land records which have been digitised in some states while in others the digitisation has not begun. Despite the latter and former the land records are not updated. All this makes the implementation a major issue.
