The spirit of tolerance and love is not only an interesting feature of Indian society from very early times, but it is also playing an Important part at the present. Elaborate.

India is well known for its diversity and unity.  Different racial stocks, ethnic cultures, and religious faith live together. What makes them different are their food habits, attire, and different languages. Even after so much difference and habits, the spirit of love and tolerance is a common feature that is evident among all of them.

Early evidence

  • The teachings of Buddhism and Jainism promoted non-violence that is directly attached to the spirit of tolerance.
  • Sufi saints spread their concept of equality for Muslims as well as Hindus. Even Alauddin Khilji was a follower of Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya.
  • Even after being a Muslim, emperor Akbar Emperor Akbar took initiatives for Ibadat Khana in Fateh Pur Sikri and Din-i-Illahi.
  • During the national movement, Gandhiji tried to tie the knot between Hindu and Muslims by merging Khilafat and Non-cooperation movement.

Present scenario

  • Communal violence is being proved by some particular community in order to fulfill their personal desire. But significantly, the maximum proportion of the population is keeping themselves away from this conflict. It is confined to only a particular place. Unity and integrity is still there.
  • Hindu, Muslims, Sikh, Jain all work in each other’s place.
  • There are common festivals that are celebrated by all communities.
  • During pujas, Muslims are invited and during the Id festival, Hindus are invited.
  • Both communities work hand in hand and create opportunities for the development of economic benefits in India.

Amid the diversity of culture, Indian civilization always promotes love, tolerance, unity, integrity. The joint cooperation irrespective of the community, race, caste, culture ultimately enriches the culture and develops India’s economy.
