The recent strike by the doctors is highly unfortunate but the situation points towards larger malaise which has no boundaries. Comment.
The national strike by doctors is highly unfortunate but even the attacks on doctors by the relatives of the patients for assumed negligence cannot be ignored. It is evident that the healthcare system of the country is under heavy strain thereby there is only little room for doctors to give personal attention to all the patients. The government spending on the sector which is meager also points to dismal states of affairs in the near future. Doctors are demanding protection and an end to such assaults. Latter can be ensured if the government chooses to impose heavy fines on people who indulge in such acts. This seems a little difficult to implement at any time soon in the future. The society has to change at large and this can only be brought about by education and increased awareness.
