UP’s Subsidy Portal for EVs

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a significant step towards promoting the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the state by launching a dedicated subsidy portal. This initiative aims to encourage customers who have purchased e-vehicles after October 14, 2022, to claim financial support for their environmentally friendly choice. The portal, named upevsubsidy.in, serves as a convenient platform for individuals to apply for the subsidy.

Four-Level Verification Process Ensures Transparency

To ensure transparency and streamline the subsidy application process, a four-level verification system has been implemented. The verification process commences at the dealer level, followed by registration and departmental verification. The final verification is conducted by a Transport Inspector (TI). This thorough verification process aims to authenticate the eligibility of the applicants and prevent any misuse of the subsidy scheme.

Development and Maintenance Entrusted to UPDESCO

The responsibility for the development and upkeep of the subsidy portal has been assigned to the Uttar Pradesh Development Systems Corporation Ltd (UPDESCO). As a reputable organization, UPDESCO is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and functionality of the portal. Their expertise in managing such technological platforms ensures a seamless experience for users.

Subsidy Amounts and Eligibility Criteria

Under the subsidy scheme, individual beneficiaries who purchase any single vehicle across different segments are eligible for the subsidy. A subsidy of Rs 5,000 per vehicle is available for the initial two lakh purchases of two-wheeler electric vehicles, with the subsidy amount not exceeding 15 percent of the ex-factory cost. Similarly, for four-wheeler electric vehicles, a subsidy of Rs 1 lakh per vehicle is available for 25,000 earlier purchases, also not exceeding 15 percent of the ex-factory cost. Additionally, non-government e-buses receive a substantial subsidy of Rs 20 lakh per vehicle, up to 15 percent of the ex-factory cost.

Efficient Subsidy Disbursement Process

Upon successful completion of the verification process, the subsidy amount is transferred directly to the customer’s bank account. This streamlined approach ensures the prompt delivery of financial support to the eligible individuals.

The subsidy portal and the accompanying subsidy scheme are essential components of the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022.
