“UP Global City” Campaign Launched in Uttar Pradesh
The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a 100-day “UP Global City” campaign in advance of the Global Investors Summit and G20 summit. The campaign aims to bring urban areas in the state up to global standards, with a focus on improving urban facilities, air quality, cleanliness, and beautification, as well as proper garbage disposal. The campaign will be implemented in all 762 urban bodies in the state.
Significance
The “UP Global City” campaign was launched by state Urban Development and Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma. A high-level meeting on the campaign was chaired by Sharma, who directed officers to make the campaign a success. The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government has set a goal of making the state a USD 1 trillion economy in the next five years.
Global Investors Summit
The Global Investors Summit, which takes place from February 10-12, 2023 in Lucknow, will bring together business delegations, corporate and industry leaders, policy makers, academia, think-tanks, and political and government leadership from around the world. The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government has set a target of making the state a USD 1 trillion economy in the next five years.
G20 Summit Preparations
In preparation for the G20 summit, the Uttar Pradesh government will introduce “Brand UP” and has planned a number of events in Agra, Varanasi, Greater Noida, and Lucknow. The government will also implement door-to-door garbage collection from February 1 to March 31, 2023, and will hold a marathon race later this month.
Other Campaigns
In addition to the “UP Global City” campaign, the state government is also running the “Swachh Dhaba” campaign, which focuses on proper garbage disposal at hotels, restaurants, and dhabas, and the “Swachh Virasat Abhiyan,” which focuses on cleanliness at tourist, historical, and religious sites. The “Swachh Dhaba” campaign will run until March 2023, while the “Swachh Virasat Abhiyan” is set to begin on January 14.
