Unity Mall in Dimapur

The Central government has allocated ₹145 crore to Nagaland for the construction of a Unity Mall in Dimapur. The Unity Mall aims to promote and showcase the state’s One District One Product (ODOP) offerings. This substantial funding forms a crucial component of the Union Budget 2023-24, which has allocated ₹5,000 crore for the establishment of Unity Malls nationwide. The declaration took place at an ODOP Sampark event, jointly organized by the Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Invest India, and the Department of Industries and Commerce in Nagaland.

Raising Awareness about ODOP

The ODOP Sampark event focused on raising awareness about the ODOP and PM Gati Shakti initiatives, with the objective of promoting local industries and improving logistics. During the event, Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary of DPIIT, highlighted the efforts of conducting a National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) Drive in Kohima. The drive specifically focused on chili farming, with over 30 farmers participating in the workshop.

Organic Certification for Chili Farmers

One of the key achievements during the ODOP Sampark event was the completion of organic certification documentation for 15 chili farmers. This certification will play a crucial role in providing better access to international markets and ensuring better prices for their produce. The organic certification serves as a testament to the quality and sustainability of Nagaland’s chili farming.

Enhancing Logistics and Connectivity

In order to enhance logistical support for ODOP products originating from Nagaland, initiatives will be undertaken to enhance transportation networks, including the implementation of schemes such as Krishi UDAN and the expansion of railway connectivity. The aim is to streamline the transportation and distribution of ODOP products, including chili, turmeric, kiwi, and pineapple. By enhancing connectivity, the government aims to boost the accessibility and reach of Nagaland’s unique products to both domestic and international markets.

DPIIT Invest Initiatives

DPIIT Invest officials highlighted various initiatives undertaken under the ODOP program. These initiatives include design sensitization workshops, ODOP GeM Bazaar on the Government e-Marketplace, and ODOP exhibitions. These platforms provide opportunities for ODOP entrepreneurs to showcase their products, connect with potential buyers, and expand their market presence.
