Union Minister Launches ‘Apna Chandrayaan’ Web Portal

In a significant step towards promoting scientific curiosity and innovation among India’s youth, the Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, unveiled a web portal named ‘Apna Chandrayaan.’ This web portal, developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) under the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, aims to provide activity-based support materials related to Mission Chandrayaan-3. The launch ceremony took place in New Delhi and included the release of 10 special modules dedicated to Chandrayaan-3.

‘Apna Chandrayaan’ Web Portal

  • Content Variety: The web portal offers a diverse range of educational content, including quizzes, puzzles, coloring books, jigsaw puzzles, picture builders, and inspiring stories in the form of graphic novels, all centered around Chandrayaan-3.
  • Observation and Awareness: For Foundational and Preparatory levels, materials like coloring sheets, dot-to-dot activities, and color coding with instructions have been prepared to enhance observation and awareness among students.
  • Interactive Learning: Online interactive quizzes are available for the Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary levels, complete with explanatory feedback for responses. Digital certificates will be issued for scores exceeding 70%, with the first 1000 winners receiving age-appropriate books.

Special Modules on Chandrayaan-3

  • Comprehensive Overview: Ten special modules have been released in multiple languages, offering a comprehensive understanding of Chandrayaan-3’s scientific, technological, and social aspects. They also delve into the emotional journey and team spirit of the scientists involved.
  • Engaging Content: These modules feature interactive and engaging content enriched with graphics, photographs, illustrations, activities, and challenging questions. They cover Classes I-XII of school education.
  • Encouraging Self-Paced Learning: The modules are designed to encourage self-paced learning among students and guide teachers through experiential teaching methods.

Encouraging Scientific Thinking

  • Instilling Qualities: The journey of Chandrayaan-3 embodies qualities like grit, scientific temper, curiosity, problem-solving, and creativity—traits that education strives to instill.
  • Equipping Students: The ‘Apna Chandrayaan’ activities aim to equip students with skill sets that foster innovation and critical thinking.
  • Future Endeavors: More creative activities are planned for the future to inspire the present generation of Indian school-going children in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

  • Interdisciplinary Learning: Promoting interdisciplinary-multidisciplinary learning and problem-solving is crucial to realizing the vision of the National Education Policy 2020.
  • Global Progress: These activities equip students with versatile skills needed to tackle the complex challenges of the 21st century, contributing to India’s progress and innovation on the global stage.
  • Holistic Development: The knowledge products will serve as support materials for the schooling system, benefiting students, teachers, educators, and school leaders and facilitating the holistic development of every child.
