Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launches Annual Capacity Building Plan
On 23rd February 2024, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched an annual capacity building blueprint for employees working under his three ministries spanning railways, communications and information technology sectors.
Key Focus Areas
The plan provides specialized training programs focusing on new technologies adoption, enhancing citizen service delivery and developing individual competencies in alignment with ministries’ roles in enabling large scale critical digital and physical connectivity infrastructure across India.
Institutions Involved
Staff from Indian Railways, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), India Post and Common Service Centers who directly serve millions of citizens daily would undergo targeted upskilling under the packaged interventions.
Feedback from Initial Training Round
During launch event, employees shared experiences regarding undergoing online module-based courses on iGOT Karmayogi digital learning platform highlighting tremendous positive impact on confidence levels, technical knowledge and workplace performance effectiveness.
Citizen-Centric Approach
The minister stressed on imparting people-friendly orientation through training to transform mindsets beyond technical skills for public servants from railways and telecom backgrounds more accustomed to engineering supervisory work over direct user interactions earlier.
Developing Holistic Capabilities
The annual calendar envisages bridging multi-dimensional capability gaps around emerging technologies like 5G and AI that hold promise for radically improving public service deliveries in near future, beyond present work domains.
Sustained Skills Upgrade Significance
Continuous reskilling equips staff to handle complex shifts accompanying large programmes like open fiber network connectivity, indigenous 5G rollout and modern railway station development that promises immense national dividends but require dedicated expertise.
iGOT Karmayogi Platform
iGOT Karmayogi platform is built under Mission Karmayogi, as a comprehensive online platform to guide individual civil service officials in their capacity building journey. It combines five functional hubs for online learning, competency management, career management, discussions, and networking. This will enable officials to deliver more effectively, eventually enhancing government execution capabilities. Through these hubs, the platform will enable online, face-to-face, and blended learning; facilitating discussions.
