Union Government appoints Meeran Borwankar as DG of BPR&D
Union Government has appointed senior IPS officer Ms. Meeran C. Borwankar as the Director General (DG) in the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D).
Her name for this post was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) chaired by Prime Minster Narendra Modi. She will have tenure of till the date of her superannuation i.e. till 30th September 2017.
Ms. Borwankar is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1981 batch of Maharashtra cadre.

- BPR&D was established 1970 in furtherance of the objective of the Union Government for the modernisation of police forces.
- It has evolved as a multifaceted, consultancy organisation. At present it has 4 divisions – Research, Development, Correctional Administration and Training.
