Union Cabinet gives nod to 3 new AIIMS

Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its nod to establish 3 new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
These 3 AIIMS will be established at Nagpur (Maharashtra), Manglagiri (Andhra Pradesh) and Kalyani in West Bengal.
They will be established under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana with the cost nearly 5,000 crore rupees.
Other decisions taken by Union Cabinet

  • Gave its approval to set up National War Memorial and National War Museum at Princess Park, near India Gate, New Delhi. It will be set up for more than 22,500 soldiers who have lost their lives. The project will cost an estimate of 500 crore rupees.
  • Approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and agreement with Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan on co-operation in field of sports. They were signed in July 2015 for bilateral exchange programmes.
  • Gave its ex-facto approval to the protocol signed between India and Seychelles for co-operation in the field of blue economy. The protocol was signed in August 2015 when President of Seychelles visited India. Blue Economy is marine based economic development that leads to improved human well-being and social equity.
