Union Cabinet approves The Lokpal and Lokayuktas (Amendment) Bill, 2016
The Union Cabinet has given its ex-post facto approval Lokayuktas (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
The Bill seeks to amend Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013 which provides for establishment of the Lokpal at the centre and Lokayuktas in the states for inquiring into complaints of corruption against certain public servants.

- The approved amendments will amend Section 44 of the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013.
- These amendments will address concerns and apprehensions expressed by different categories of public servants.
- They will also address the difficulties being faced in implementing the provision of section 44 of the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013.
- These amendments are in line with one of the recommendations of the Standing Committee.
