UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights is a set of 31 guidelines for the implementation of ‘Protect, Respect and remedy Framework’ with respect to business and human rights. It is also known as the ‘Ruggie Framework’. It is the first global guidelines for addressing the issue of human rights violation in relation to business activities. In 2011, it was unanimously endorsed by the UNHRC. The recent UN report on indigenous peoples’ issues highlighted the need for business enterprises to comply with these guidelines.
