Tripura- NIXI World-Class Data Centre

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been inked between the government of Tripura and the NIXI-CSC Data Services Centre to establish an international standard Data Centre in the state.

Overview:

  • To set up this proposed data centre, CSE e-governance services Ltd and the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) have floated a joint venture.
  • The international standard Data Centre will be located at Indranagar, the headquarters of Tripura’s IT Bhavan.
  • Rs 150 crore will be invested by the joint venture company while the state government will only be providing the space for setting up the Data Centre.
  • In the next one or two months, the NIXI-CSC Data Services Centre will kick start the Data Centre while it will take a year to raise the Data Centre’s standards to a world-class level.

The MoU was signed by AK Bhattacharjee, in-charge director of the IT department on behalf of Tripura and CEO Anil Jain, NIXI-CSC Data Services Centre.

Details of the MoU

This collaboration will enable the state government to host all of its data in the proposed Data Centre, while the state will also be provided with data free of cost. The company will be charging for data exchange to other private players and governments other than Tripura. The joint venture company will be controlling the Data Centre. The Data Centre will also be generating a lot of jobs in the state for IT professionals who are highly skilled.
