Tripura Launches E-Cabinet System

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha unveiled the E-Cabinet System in Agartala, marking a significant step towards the digital transformation of government operations and services. The introduction of this system places Tripura as the fourth state in India, and the second in the Northeast, to embrace electronic cabinet meetings, following Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh.

A Paperless Future

The adoption of the E-Cabinet System signifies a shift towards a paperless future for the state’s governance. All upcoming cabinet meetings will be conducted electronically, with ministers and bureaucrats utilizing tablets. This not only promotes efficiency but also contributes to reducing the carbon footprint, aligning with environmental sustainability goals.

Utilizing Digital Resources

In its inaugural meeting, the government approved a proposal to secure a loan of Rs 160 crore from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This funding will be directed towards the tourism and urban development department, supporting infrastructure development and sustainable livelihood initiatives in the state.

Modeling After Uttarakhand

The E-Cabinet System in Tripura follows a similar model as introduced in Uttarakhand. Executives from the National Informatics Centre and the state’s information and cultural affairs department played pivotal roles in launching this system.

Advantages of Digitization

The shift towards digitization aligns Tripura’s development journey with the national Digital India initiative. This transformation would enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in government operations.

E-Cabinet App Features

The E-Cabinet app boasts features that streamline the upload of cabinet memos with date and time stamps. Ministers, the chief secretary, secretaries, and other officials can conveniently review and approve documents online. Privacy protection measures are of the highest standard, ensuring data security.

Eliminating Delays and Boosting Decision-Making

The implementation of the E-Cabinet System is expected to eliminate delays associated with physical document movements, injecting dynamism into government decision-making processes.

A Digital Mission

Tripura government had previously introduced e-file and office systems in line with the Digital India campaign. The state is committed to expanding digital infrastructure development across various public service platforms.
