“Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museums” being developed by Tribal Affairs Ministry

The Tribal Affairs Ministry has stated that all the nine museums dedicated to tribal freedom fighters will be completed by 2022. Out of the nine proposed museums sanctioned for tribal freedom fighters, two are nearing completion and the rest are at different stages of progress. New museums will be sanctioned in the future in collaboration with the states.

Details of the Museums

The largest of these museums is being built in Rajpipla in Gujarat at a cost of Rs 102.55 crores whereas the rest are being developed in Ranchi (Jharkhand), Lambasingi (Andhra Pradesh), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Kozhikode (Kerala), Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh), Hyderabad (Telangana), Senapati (Manipur) and Kelsi (Mizoram). All these museums will involve the use of virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D and 7D holographic projections, etc.

Background

In order to recognize the contributions made by the tribal freedom fighters in the country, the government had sanctioned the establishment of these museums in 2016. The idea was that such museums will be established in all the states with sizeable tribal population and also where they fought against the British and refused to be defeated. The museums will make the upcoming generations know and understand the contributions of these people.
