IPO

IPO or initial public offering is the process by which the shares of a company are offered to institutional and retail investors for the first time. This is also known as stock market launch. It enables the companies to raise capital. IPO market is an example of a primary market i.e. a market where the company sells its stocks and bonds to the public for the first time. The government’s disinvestment plans are expected to have an impact on the IPO market, as investors would be given a chance to become shareholders of companies like LIC.
