On December 9, 2021, Google India announced the results for its Year in Search 2021 and has recapped the top search trends of 2021 in India.

• The list notes about what Indians searched for most throughout the year across news, entertainment, sports, and other categories.
• As per result, the top searches are Cricket and CoWin.
• Cricket continued to be a major search trend in 2021.
• Indian Premier League, CoWIN and ICC T20 World Cup have occupied the top three spots in overall list of search queries.
• Euro Cup and Tokyo Olympics were respectively at number four and five in the list.

• One of the popular search trends was performance of Indian sportspersons at the Tokyo Olympics. It included Neeraj Chopra, who won gold medal at the Games for India.
• People also interestingly searched around personalities like Aryan Khan, page three celebrities like Vicky Kaushal, Shehnaaz Gill & Raj Kundra and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
• Among games, battle royale shooter Free Fire was the only gaming entry in the trending list.

Search Scenario across COWIN & vaccination information

After the commencement of world’s largest vaccination drive, searches for COWIN and Covid Vaccine were trending massively as people sought information on the vaccination’s options and their availability.

‘Near me’ searches

‘Near me’ searches in the year 2021 revolved largely across services related to Covid-19 pandemic. People largely searched for covid tests, vaccines, Covid hospitals, CT scans, and searches for oxygen cylinders during second wave of the pandemic.
