IFSC BILL
- Parliament has passed the International Financial Services Centres Authority Bill, 2019
- The Bill seeks to set up a unified authority for regulating all financial activities in international financial services centres (IFSCs) in the country.
- It was passed by Rajya Sabha on December 12 and Lok Sabha on December 11.
- The first IFSC in India has been set up at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gandhinagar
CONSTITUTION (126th) AMENDMENT BILL
- Parliament has passed the Constitution (126th) Amendment Bill
- The Bill seeks to extend reservation to SCs and STs in Lok Sabha and state assemblies by another ten years
- The Bill was passed by Rajya Sabha on December 12 and Lok Sabha on December 11
- Given for the past 70 years, the reservation was due to end on January 25, 2020
- Reservation given to Anglo-Indian community has not been extended in the new bill
- The bill would now be sent to states for ratification by 50% of the assemblies before it comes into force
CENTRAL SANSKRIT UNIVERSITIES BILL
- The Lok Sabha passed the Central Sanskrit Universities Bill, 2019.
- The Bill seeks to upgrade three deemed Sanskrit universities into Central universities
- They are: Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Bhopal, Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, New Delhi and Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth Tirupati
