Insurance scheme extended for health workers involved in combating COVID-19
The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package Insurance scheme for healthcare workers combating the pandemic has been extended for another 6 months. The scheme was announced on 30th March for a period of 90 days. It was earlier extended till 25th September.
Gujarat government, SIDBI sign MoU to boost MSME growth
The MoU between the Gujarat government and the Small Industries Development Bank of India intends to boost self-reliance, capacity building and market support for the state’s 35 lakh MSMEs. The objective is also to hasten technology transfer and innovation within the state.
UK returns 3 stolen idols back to India
The UK authorities have returned the antique bronze idols of Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman to India. These statues were stolen in 1978 from a temple in Tamil Nadu. They belong to the Vijayanagara Empire dating back to 15th Century
Karnataka government approves state’s tourism policy 2020-25
The Cabinet cleared Karnataka Tourism Policy 2020-25. The policy aims to boost tourism related aspects within the state and promote tourism at the district-level. It also plans to provide subsidies for basic amenities like hotels and resorts.
DGCI nod to resume clinical trial of Oxford COVID-19 vaccine candidate
Serum Institute of India was given the permission to continue clinical trial the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine candidate in India. The Drugs Controller General of India, meanwhile, has revoked its earlier order of suspending any new recruitment for phase two and three trial.
Centre working to enhance digital economy contribution to 20% of GDP in 5 years
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is taking measures to boost digital economy’s contribution to 20% of the GDP in the next five years. As of now, the digital economy contributes to just 7 to 8% of the GDP.
India, US sign statement of intent for dialogue on defence technology cooperation
Both countries have signed statement of intent to enhance the bilateral dialogue on defence technology cooperation and to provide avenues for co-production and co-development of military equipment.
