S Jaishankar virtually attends start of intra-Afghan talks in Doha

India participated the start of intra-Afghan talks in Doha, where a senior official participated in-person and the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar attended it virtually. This is significant as given New Delhi’s silence in acknowledging power-sharing arrangement in Kabul.

Around 5,000 Himalayan streams to be rejuvenated under MGNREGA in Uttarakhand this year

This is in line with the earlier announcement by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat that the government has started work to revive one Himalayan river in every district. The project would be implemented in coordination amongst forest, labour and drinking water departments.

India in talks with Russia, UK, Vietnam for logistics pact

Logistics support agreements with Russia, the UK and Vietnam are still under negotiations. These are similar to the one concluded with Japan earlier this week. The agreement with Russia, the Reciprocal Logistics Support, is expected to be signed in October. This agreement would enable India to access facilities in Arctic region.

Liquidity package for discoms to be enhanced

The Rs.90,000 crore liquidity package for discoms to help them pay their dues till March is to be enhanced to Rs.1.2 lakh crore to address these utilities’ outstanding till June.

Krishna-Godavari Basin holds massive reserve of methane hydrate

The recent study conducted at the Agharkar Research Institute revealed that the KG Basin holds a massive reserve of methane hydrate, a rich source of clean fuel. Even the lowest estimate of methane present in the Methane hydrates in KG Basin is twice that of all fossil fuel reserves available worldwide

Punjab rolls out smart ration card scheme

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh launched a smart ration card scheme for providing subsidised food grains to 1.41 crore beneficiaries in the state. Separate state-funded scheme was also announced to provide subsidised rations to 9 lakh beneficiaries not covered under the National Food Security Act.
