Tocilizumab
Tocilizumab is a drug that is used for its immunosuppressant properties i.e. inhibits the activity of the immune system and its anti-inflammatory properties. It is used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. This drug is made of humanized monoclonal antibodies (in which the protein sequences are altered to make them resemble the antibodies naturally produced in humans) and is administered intravenously. Recently, phase 3 trials found that this drug improves the outcomes among severely ill Covid-19 patients.
