The Andhra Pradesh’s agriculture project “Harita-Priya” has won the 2016 World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) prize in e-Agriculture category. The project “Harmonized Information of Agriculture, Revenue and Irrigation for a Transformation Agenda – Precision Technology for Agriculture (Harita-Priya) is meant to collect very specific climate data from farms by using wireless sensor networks and give farmers personalized information regarding alerts on irrigation schedules, pests and plant diseases, etc., through SMS.
