 The Naropa festival is a grand Buddhist festival which occurs in every 12 years, has started at the 17th century Hemis Monastery in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir. The main event of the festival is the celebration of the 1,000th birth anniversary of spiritual Saint Naropa. In it, the six bone ornaments of Naropa will display, which are said to provide liberation on sight to all those who witness it. Beside this, the ancient silk Thangka (Tibetan Buddhist painting) of Buddha Amitabha will also unfurl.
