Terracotta Army Mausoleum
The Terracotta Army Mausoleum is a burial ground of a Toy army first discovered in 1974 in China in the Shaanxi province. It is a form of funerary art buried with the First Emperor of Qin (Qin Shi Huang, Shi Huang means the first emperor) in 210-209 BC. This mausoleum was constructed in 246 BC and said to involve 700,000 workers. Current estimates are that in the three pits containing the Terracotta Army there were over 8,000 soldiers, 100 chariots with 400 horses and 300 cavalry horses, the majority of which are still buried in the pits.
In June 2009, China began the third large-scale excavation of the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor in 24 years.
