Telangana SpaceTech Framework

On 19th April 2022, the government of Telangana launched its first space-tech Framework. This framework was launched with the vision of establishing the state as a globally recognized destination for space technology.

Overview:

  • This launch event was hosted on the metaverse, making it the country’s first such official event.
  • Through this framework, Telangana will be supporting innovations in this sector.
  • By 2026, the space industry is expected to grow to USD 558 billion and Telangana wants to take a piece of this pie.
  • Somanath S, Chairman of ISRO, Amitabh Kant, CEO of NITI Aayog, and Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman of IN-SPACe also participated in this event.

Aim of the framework

The aim of the framework is to encourage private participation in the sector of the space industry in line with the recent reforms made by the central government.

Launch Event

For the launch event, a space-themed environment on the metaverse was custom-developed. Custom avatars of the key dignitaries were also developed. Standard avatars were used by the attendees that joined this on the platform and they interacted with nearby participants along with observing the proceedings of the event similar to a physical event. Gamitronics, a Hyderabad-based tech company created the blockchain technology for this event and the tech firm PartyNite launched the metaverse platform.

Launch of an NFT Collection

At the end of the event, an NFT collection was launched. The proceeds from the sale of this collection have been earmarked for supporting the one of the state government’s social impact projects that is technology-enabled.
