Telangana Launches T-Wallet

Telangana has launched a digital wallet named T-Wallet for people to make  public and private financial transactions.

Salient Highlights

The service has been launched as “anytime anywhere digital payment option for everyone”. This is first such initiative by any state government in the country. 
The service can also be availed by those people who do not have mobile phones. The public who do not have smartphones can use the wallet for transactions using MeeSeva centres. They can go to Mee Seva centres to open T-Wallet, load money and make payments.
The T-Wallet will charge a nominal cost for private transactions and charges will not be applicable for paying electricity bills, water bills, property taxes, RTA challans etc.
To provide the service, the Telangana Government has tied up with Vijaya Bank.
RBI’s clearance has been obtained by the state government to launch the e-payment facility.
The service could be availed in three languages, namely, Telugu, Urdu and English both on mobile phones and on online web browser.
