Technology Acquisition and Development Fund
The National Manufacturing Policy had proposed establishment of a Technology Acquisition and Development Fund (TADF) for acquisition of clean, green and energy efficient technologies. Establishment of this fund was so far in limbo. The NDA Government has recently approved setting up of TADF and the Green Manufacturing Scheme.
Some Important Facts:
- The fund will work in tandem with a Global Innovation and Technology Alliance (GITA), which is a joint venture company of CII and Department of Science & Technology. GITA was launched in 2007-08 to stimulate private sector’s investment in Research and Development.
- Under TADF scheme, the government would reimburse the 50% (max 20 Lakh Rupees) money as direct support for Technology acquisition.
- It will also provide indirect support to acquire patent from across the world.
TDAF seeks to facilitate resource conservation activities in industries located in National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ). The funds of TADF can also be used for the financial support for under incentive or subsidy schemes will be provided for construction of green buildings, energy or water audits and implementation of waste treatment facilities.
