Tamil Nadu tops Solar capacity report by the end of 3rd Quarter of 2019

According to a report by Mercom Capital Group, Tamil Nadu has emerged as the top states in terms of solar capacity followed by Rajasthan and Karnataka at 2nd and 3rd place respectively by the end of 3rd quarter of 2019 (July-September).
According to the report, the Total installed power capacity in Tamil Nadu stood at 32.6 GW by the end of 3rd quarter, with thermal power at 14.8 GW and renewable sources up to 16.3 GW out of which 9.2 GW wind energy, followed by solar with
3.9 GW, hydropower with 2.2 GW, nuclear with 1.5GW, small hydro and other renewables had an installed capacity of 1.1 GW in the state.

In India, according to the report, solar installations at the end of quarter 3, was 2170 MW, a 44% increase as compared to 1510 MW at the end 2nd quarter of 2019.
