Swedish envoy unviels ‘Nobel Memorial Wall’ in Kolkata

Commemorating the centenary of legendary polymath Rabindranath Tagore (Gurudev) receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature, Swedish Ambassador Harald Sandberg inaugurated the Nobel Memorial Wall, a permanent structure set up in the Kolkata’s Esplanade Metro Railway station, where portraits of the seven Nobel Laureates from India, including Tagore, are displayed.
Author of Gitanjali and its “profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse”, Tagore was the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913.
