SWADESH Project
SWADESH is a brain initiative developed by DBT – National Brain Research Centre. The project makes the neuroimaging, neurochemical and neuropsychological data accessible to researchers. DBT is Department of Biotechnology.
What is SWADESH?
- SWADESH is the world’s first Multi nodal Brain Imaging Data and Analytics. The major components of SWADESH are big data management and analytics framework, data acquisition and visualization and applications.
- It was inaugurated by Dr Jitendra Sing, the Union Minister of State for Ministry of Science and Technology in November 2021.
- SWADESH will help to strengthen Alzheimer’s disease research. It helps the scientific community to come up with promising treatments.
What are the major modules of SWADESH?
SWADESH analyses six modules. They are as follows:
- Neurodegenerative: mild cognitive impairment and Parkinson’s disease
- Neuropsychiatric: Bipolar disorder and Schizophrenia
- Neurodevelopmental: Epilepsy and Autism
- COVID-19 related disorders
What are the clinical research tools developed through SWADESH?
- GAURI: It uses adaptive pattern recognition and learning schemes for predicting single or differential diagnosis
- NINS – STAT: Automated Statistical test selection and execution software package
- KALPANA: Integrative package for visualization, quantization and pre processing
- PRATEEK: It analyses multimodal neuroimaging gats. And minimizes the need for expertise in handling different neuroimaging tools
- BHARAT: Big data analytic tool
