Supporting Andhra’s Learning Transformation (SALT) project

Government of Andhra Pradesh, Union government and the World Bank have signed legal agreements for a loan of $250 million for the “Supporting Andhra’s Learning Transformation (SALT) project”.

About SALT project

  • SALT project aims to improve the quality of learning for more than 50 lakh students in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
  • The project was launched with the aim to cover:
  1. 40 lakh students aged between six to fourteen across 45,000 government schools
  2. 10 lakh children, aged between three to six, enrolled in Anganwadis,
  3. 1,90,000 teachers and
  4. More than 50,000 Anganwadi workers.
  • Under this project, a one-year preschool-level course will be introduced in 3,500 schools in tribal blocks.
  • Project has been launched with a five-year limit, starting from 2021-22.

Significance of the Project

SALT is the first of its kind innovative projects to train teachers, facilitate State-level assessment and establish an effective education management & information system. It will help in providing universal access to quality education in the state. It will also support Andhra Pradesh in fulfilling its vision of transforming government schools into vibrant institutions which will focus on foundational learning for children.

Features of the project

  • It is a five-year result-oriented programme, for which world bank is releasing funds after key goals are achieved.
  • Under the project, government has converted all Anganwadis in state, into pre-primary schools and has attached them with nearest schools.

    is SALT project implemented in ANDHRA PRADESH ,
    since long months back there is no information about the project tenders
    who got the project and which consultancy got the work permits to run the project
    not even the details are been given through the websites or through the state government ? will the project get into the fields , if it happens how long it will be and what will be the recruiting process ?
