Strengthening basic education in rural areas
The Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha 21 Nov said that the Department of School Education and Literacy has launched an Integrated Scheme for School Education – Samagra Shiksha by subsuming three erstwhile Centrally Sponsored Schemes of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Teacher Education (TE) from 1st April, 2018.
Samagra Shiksha scheme focuses was launched to improve school infrastructure and quality of education in all States and UTs including in rural area. The scheme targets girls and children belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), minority communities and transgender.
