Some Facts about Norman Borlaug who died recently

  1. Father of Green Revolution Norman Borlaug was a US agricultural Scientist who was awarded 1970 Nobel Peace Prize.
  2. He was chosen for Nobel prize for developing high-yielding crops to prevent famine in the developing world.
  3. The Green Revolution is known for the development of crops such as wheat that delivered better yields than traditional strains.
  4. Borlaug also received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor of the United States.
  5. He was also a recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honor.
  6. Borlaug’s discoveries have been credited to have saved over 245 million lives worldwide.
