Solar gigawatt club

Solar gigawatt club is an unofficial tag given to countries with installed capacity to produce 1 GW of solar power. Currently 37 countries hold this tag. The recently released African Solar Energy Outlook 2021 reported that only 2 countries from Africa feature on this list- Egypt and South Africa. According to the report, 9 more countries are set to join this list give their attempts to ramp up solar infrastructure- Algeria, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Angola, Namibia, Morocco, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
