Singapore Election: PM Lee Hsein Loong wins again
The Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong has won the election and will continue as PM for another term.
Highlights
The ruling People’s Action Party of Singapore has won 83 of 93 contested parliamentary seats in general election. The People’s Action Party has been in power since 1965. This year the party secured 61.24% of the total number of votes. This is a significant drop from 69.9% secured in 2015.
Background
Since 1965, Singapore has had only three Prime Ministers. This includes independence leader Lee Kuan Yew, Goh Chok Tong (cabinet colleague of Lee Kuan Yew) and the present PM Lee Hsien Loong.

Pritam Singh of Indian Origin is to serve as the leader of opposition of Singaporean Parliament. Singh joined the Singapore Armed Forces in 1994.
Lee Hsein Loong
Lee Hsein Loong is the third prime minister of Singapore. He is the eldest child of Singapore’s first PM Lee Kuan Yew. In 2010, he introduced electoral reforms by reducing number of group representation constituencies.
