Sher-i-Kashmir Award: Navjot becomes youngest recipient athlete of Jammu and Kashmir to be conferred
Navjot Singh (16 years) became the youngest athlete of Jammu and Kashmir to be conferred with the Sher-i-Kashmir Sports Award. He was declared the best sportsperson for 2008-09. Navjot received the award at an impressive investiture ceremony hosted after a gap of 22 years.
Sher-i-Kashmir Sports Awards
- Established in 1978.
- After 1991 when the militancy began in J&K, the awards stopped.
- The awards returned in 2002 to be continued since then.
