Shashank Manohar steps down as BCCI President
Shashank Manohar has stepped down as President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with immediate effect
He also has resigned as the representative of BCCI on the International Cricket Council (ICC) and also from the Asian Cricket Council
He has resigned barely seven months after being appointed in October 2015 after the sudden demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya.
This was Shashank Manohar’s second stint as the head of the Indian cricketing body. Earlier he had served as President from 2008 to 2011.
Now he will contest for the post of ICC Chairman. The ICC rules mentions that Chairman should be of independent nature and can’t act in dual role keeping his position as his country’s cricketing chief.
