14 non-dairy based calcium-rich food developed by Indian scientists
- Indian Scientists have developed 14 non-dairy based calcium-rich food
- They have also developed 12 dairy-based calcium-rich products to raise calcium intake in children
- The products to also benifit those kids who are not fond of milk
- The non-dairy-based calcium-rich products include finger millet or ragi dosa, sesame or til ladoo, sesame-soybean chutney
- The dairy-based calcium-rich products include finger millet porridge, rice porridge with poppy seeds, cheese sandwich, spinach-cottage cheese vegetable and sweets like rasmalai and rasgulla
Court Martialled IAF office Anjali Gupta commits suicide
- Former Indian Air Force officer Anjali Gupta, who was the first woman to be court martialled by the IAF, committed suicide in Bhopal
- She had accused her senior officers of sexually abusing her
- She was dismissed by the IAF in February 2006 after she was found guilty on seven counts ranging from indiscipline, insubordination to financial misappropriation
- Anjali Gupta became the first IAF officer to be dismissed from service after her allegations of sexual harrassment by her seniors proved to be false
- Indian Air Force officer Group Captain Amit Gupta has been suspended from service after he was arrested by the police in connection with the alleged suicide of former officer Anjali Gupta
‘Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojana’ launched by the Rajasthan Government
- Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojana launched by the Rajasthan Govt
- Objective: To bring down maternal and child mortality rate in Rajasthan
- Under the scheme all pregnant women and sick infant would be provided free treatment in govt hospitals
- Pregnant women to be provided free medicines and other consumables before, during and till 6 months after the delivery
- Also the ill infants would be provided all medicines free up to 30 days of their birth
- The pregnant and infants would also be provided free transport facility from home to health institute and back
Multi-Million Dollar aid programme to be undertaken by UN in Pak
- UN to launch a multi-million dollar aid programme in Pakistan’s southern Sindh province, where floods activated by heavy rains have killed many people and sunken hundreds of villages

- On this day, the people worship the Mount Kanchenjunga whom they revere as their guardian deity
- The festival also marks the signing of the historic blood brotherhood treaty between the ethnic Bhutia and Lepcha tribes in the 13th century A.D.
