SDG India Index & Dashboard 2019-20 to be launched on 30th December 2019
The policy think-tank of Government of India, NITI Aayog will launch the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) India Index and Dashboard on next Monday, 30th December 2019. This will be the second edition of the Sustainable Development Goals Index and Dashboard and have been developed by the NITI Aayog in collaboration with the United Nations in India, the Global Green Growth Institute, and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The Index and Dashboard report comprises of the progress made towards implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 by all states and union territories of India.
The Government of India has given its mandate to NITI Aayog for monitoring and overseeing the adoption of Sustainable Development Goals 2030 at the sub-national and national levels. In December 2018, the first edition of the Index and Dashboard report was launched, making India the first economic major country in the world to develop such a tool for monitoring the progress of Sustainable Development Goals, 2030. This year’s edition of the Sustainable Development Goals Index and Dashboard has been prepared on the basis of 100 indicators taken from the National Indicator Framework of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, which comprises of 306 indicators.
The Sustainable Development Goals 2030 was adopted in the United Nations General Assembly as resolution – ‘The Future We Want’ in the year 2015. These are set of 17 global goals that for that the United Nations General Assembly Member’s intended to achieve by 2030 for a better sustainable future.
The first edition of the Index and Dashboard report covered 13 of the 17 goals under the Sustainable Development Goals 2030. This year’s edition covers 16 goals.
