Rudrashila-The White-Water Rafting Expedition

On 25 October, 2019, at the Jodhpur Military station, the white-water rafting expedition called the “Rudrashila” was flagged in by Lt General VS Sreenivas. It was undertaken by the Kalidhar Battalion. The aim of the expedition is to prepare the soldiers to overcome adversities with grit and determination. The team will also spread awareness on social issues of “Swachh Bharat” campaign and “Preservation of river eco-system”

The expedition will be led by Major Ravi Kant Gaurav. Two officers, four junior officers and 18 soldiers will raft a total distance of 140 km. The expedition will start from Rudhraprayag and end in Rishikesh. It is considered to be the most difficult and dangerous rapids in the mighty Ganges river.

Rudrashila

The name Rudrashila is framed from the Rudraprayag tributary of the Ganges river. It originates in the mountains of Uttarkhand

Kalidhar Battalion

The force was formed in November 1943. It has participated in many of major army operations. Also, it was assigned two overseas assignments namely Korea assignment in 1953 and UN peace keeping mission in Congo in 2005.
