Rs 190 crore to augment Health care in North East
On June 21, 2020, the Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh reviewed the COVID-19 status in “Aspirational” districts. A special focus was given to the North East while reviewing.

The Ministry of North East has sanctioned Rs 190 crores to augment the health care in the region. This mainly includes developing infrastructure in the states.
What is the plan?
The concept of “Aspirational” District programme was based on 49 key indicators. Of this, health care is of utmost importance. The Ministry of North East has provided the option of sending proposals for health-related projects under North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NEISDS). The Ministry has allocated Rs 500 crores to implement the proposals.
The Ministry of North East has so far released Rs 25 crores as gap funding to act upon COVID-19.
Aspirational Districts
The Aspirational District Programme is anchored by NITI Aayog. So far, the GoI has identified 115 districts under the programme. The indicators of the programme mainly focus on financial inclusion, agriculture and water resources, health and nutrition, skill development, basic infrastructure, etc.
The major contours of the programme include convergence, competition and collaboration.
