Roh Tae-moon appointed as Smartphone CEO of Samsung
South-Korea based leading Multinational Electronics Company, Samsung Electronics recently appointed Roh Tae-moon as the new head of its smartphone division amid the shakeup of the executives in the company in which the 52-year old, Samsung’s youngest President, Roh, who has been working with Samsung since 1997 and has led the engineering and designing of the galaxy series (smartphone) team, will be taking over the role from the Co-CEO, DJ Koh. DJ Koh will serve as the CEO of the IT & Mobile Communications (IM) business.
Roh Tae-moon played a crucial leadership role in the development of the Galaxy series and the affordable handsets of Samsung. This announcement was made amidst the rising competition faced by Samsung from Chinese competitors like Huawei, Vivo, and Oppo, as the company hopes for competing with the lower-priced smartphones coming from China. The primary objective set by the company for the newly appointed CEO is to shepherd foldable products into the mainstream market and in expanding the business of the company in India and China.
