RIMFAX
RIMFAX or Radar Imager for Mars’ Subsurface Experiment is one of the experiments being carried by NASA’s Perseverance mission. It is an instrument for enabling high resolution mapping of the Martian sub-surface structure at the landing site (Jezero Crater). It will also be looking for water, ice and brines in the sub-surface region. It makes use of radar waves that penetrate the ground to study the geological features. Depending upon the ground composition, it can penetrate up to 10 m beneath the surface.
