Reproduction number

Reproduction (R) number measures the contagiousness of a disease. If the number exceeds 1, each existing infection causes more than one new infection. In India, the reproduction number of COVID-19 has spiked recently, with it reaching 1.02 on February 21-23 for the first time since September last year. This means that India may witness increased number of COVID-19 cases in the near future.
