Recovery and Reconstruction Plan Approved for Joshimath
The Centre, led by a high-level committee headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has approved a recovery and reconstruction plan for Joshimath in Uttarakhand. This decision comes in response to the landslide and ground subsidence that affected the region earlier this year. The approved plan allocates Rs 1658.17 crore for the recovery and reconstruction efforts.
Financial Breakdown
The recovery and reconstruction plan include Rs 1079.96 crore in central assistance from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) recovery and reconstruction window. The Uttarakhand government will contribute Rs 126.41 crore from its State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for relief assistance, and an additional Rs 451.80 crore from its state budget, covering land acquisition costs for resettlement (Rs 91.82 crore).

Joshimath faced significant challenges due to landslides and ground subsidence, prompting the central government to provide essential technical and logistical support to the state.
